Mr. and Mrs. Howard H. "Butch" Boyd of Cape Girardeau celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 1, 2011, with a family dinner party at Celebrations. Hosts were their children and grandchildren.
Boyd and Patricia Rudert were married Jan. 1, 1961, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, by the Rev. Wilbur Maring. Their attendants were Marcia Rudert and Robert L. McDowell.
Boyd was a former police chief with Cape Girardeau Police Department, and also worked with Southeast Hospital Security. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving six years active duty and 26 years reserve duty.
Mrs. Boyd is a retired teacher with Jackson School District.
They have two sons, Paul (DeeDee) Boyd of Sikeston, Mo., and Mike (Elizabeth) Boyd of Fenton, Mo. They have four grandchildren, Jared, Emily, Ben and Zac.
