Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Boren of Cape Girardeau celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Dec. 27.

Boren and Maxine Busch were married Dec. 27, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. F.H. Melzer, pastor, performed the ceremony. Melzer also baptized and confirmed Gerald.

Their attendants were Viola Hill and Ivan Boren.

The Borens have lived their entire lives in Cape Girardeau. He worked in construction and later was a clerk at the U.S. Post Office. Maxine was a secretary for a CPA firm.

They have two sons, Nick (Vickie) and Steve (Beverly) Boren; four grandchildren, Courtney Boren (Clay) Landgraf, Stephanie Boren (Bryan) Wessell, Jeremy and Jeffrey Boren; five great-grandchildren, Chase, Aidan and Ava Wessell, Mason and Piper Landgraf.

Gerald and Maxine were well-known on Sherwood Drive for their yard decorations. They won two times for Chamber of Commerce Yard of the Month, Christmas decorations, and for Easter their yard was full of bunnies and eggs.
