Bohnert and Lisa Henschel were married Nov. 25, 1948, in Wiesbaden, Germany.

They have five children, Jerry Bohnert of Memphis, Tenn., Ron (Vivian) Bohnert, Tammy (Kenny) Roberts, Pam (Jim) Thompson, all of Cape Girardeau, and Steve (Debbie) Bohnert of St. Louis. They have 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
