McNeely is stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps at Oak Harbor Naval Base. He is the son of LaVerne McNeely of Cape Girardeau and Russell McNeely of Scott City.

Mrs. Whitener is the former Carolyn Devenport, daughter of Esther Devenport of Gordonville and the late Hubert Devenport. She is a first grade teacher at Alma Schrader School. Whitener is a quality engineer with Dana Corp., and is the son of Virgil and LaVerne Whitener of Jackson.
