Kayla Marie was born at 1:25 p.m. and weighed 5 pounds 8 ounces. The couple also has a son. Mrs. Mengwasser is the former Angie James, daughter of Jerry and Linda James of Scopus, and is a licensed practical nurse at Southeast Hospital. Mengwasser is a respiratory therapist at the hospital, and is the son of Katherine Siers of DeSoto, and the late Cornelius Mengwasser.

Mrs. Steele is the former Leigh Ann Waller, daughter of Lois E. Niemann of Gordonville and Bill Waller of Jackson. She is a manager at BG's Olde Tyme Deli. Steele is employed at Resin Exchange, and is the son of Richard and Gloria Steele of Memphis, Tenn.

Bell is a student at the university, and is the son of Douglas Bell and Norma Bell of Excelsior Springs.
