Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Irwin of Cape Girardeau celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise reception hosted by their son, Stan, and daughter-in-law, Glenda Buchheit, at their home.

Irwin and Ruth Verble were married June 9, 1951, by the Rev. Dale Porter at General Baptist Church. Their attendants were Marie Kester and Arvel Roth.

Irwin is the son of Walter and Dora Irwin of Perkins, Mo. Mrs. Irwin is the daughter of Harry and Mattie Verble of Wolf Lake, Ill. He was associated with Ford Groves Motor Co. 38 years.

Mrs. Irwin was a vocational home economics teacher 38 years at Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake.
