The Combs have resided in Cape Girardeau more than 30 years, and are members of Lynwood Baptist Church. Combs retired from the Federal Aviation Agency in 1987, and she retired from Zimmer Broadcasting Co. in 1990.

They have three children: Bonnie Majors and husband, Hal, of Cape Girardeau, Stephen Vance Combs of Hillsboro, and Mary Jo Filer of Jackson.

The couple has eight grandchildren: Summer Majors Halter, Carson and Tyler Majors; Joshua Combs; Joseph, Katie, Ali and Becky Filer.
