SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Wonders of Wildlife, the American National Fish and Wildlife Museum, will open in November.
The $50 million museum will combine live fish, birds and mammals with natural history exhibits and hands-on activities.
The museum includes a 91,000-square-foot aquarium with 160 different live species, hunting and fishing displays and videos and computer simulators. The Walk in the Woods will feature a suspended walkway through an Ozarks woods that offers a 19-foot waterfall and live calls of geese, doves and quail.
The musuem's Underwater Perspectives gallery will provide face-to-face contact with sharks and with both freshwater and saltwater fish. A freshwater tank will house beavers, bass and other fish.
The museum is designed to celebrate the heritage of hunting and fishing.
The museum is the brainchild of John L. Morris, founder and CEO of Bass Pro Shops. It is located north of Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World.
