Polio Vaccine Goes to 35,000
Type I vaccine, the same Sabin Oral Vaccine administered to more than 35,000 Cape County residents Sunday, will be available again this coming Sunday, Dec. 1, a Cape County Medical Society spokesman said today.
The program is being repeated next Sunday, he said, for the benefit of those who were unable to take the vaccine this past Sunday.
Locations of feeding stations will be announced in The Missourian later this week.
"It is hoped that in this way we can reach our goal of 40,000 doses," the spokesman said.
Dr. Dale Blankenship, chairman, expressed the society's appreciation to the county residents who participated. About 87 per cent of the population took part.
At each feeding station was a pharmacist, nurse and a doctor...
Wood ends season with mixed emotions

When Mike Wood removed his SEMO State University helmet for the final time Saturday at Jefferson City, he felt "sad and relieved at the same time."
Sad because, like the other 16 Indian seniors, his college playing days had come to a close. Relieved because the pressure which has gripped the back of his spine all year long was finally gone.
The presssure was there even before the season started. There was Mike Wood, the NCAA Division II career field goal leader with 48, standing on the brink of erasing the all-time NCAA mark of 51 set by Air Force's Dave Lawson. And he hadn't even laced up his game shoes yet.
The question was not whether, but when he'd break it. Only a bad spill on that big Kawasaki motorcycle he rides could have prevented it. He drew close to the record with two field goals in the Indians' first-game loss to Murray State...
