The W.E. Walker-Lakenan agency began its operations in 1915.

W.E. Walker Co., owned by Joe Stahly, and Lakenan Insurance Co. of Jackson, owned by Chad Hartle, merged their two independent insurance agencies on Aug. 1, 2004. Current owners are Stahly, Hartle, Bill Talley and Doug Mueller.

W.E. Walker-Lakenan LLC is a Trusted Choice/Independent Insurance Agency with locations in Cape Girardeau, Jackson and Benton, Mo.

In January 2007, W.E. Walker-Lakenan LLC purchased Swinford & Associates in Jackson, specializing in employee benefits group accounts.

Today, W.E. Walker-Lakenan, LLC is made up of nine professional commercial lines/personal lines producers and a staff of 11 support personnel with more than 250 years of insurance experience.

The agency insures small to large commercial accounts specializing in contractors, manufacturers, wholesale distributing, health care, marine, agri, offices and retail offering all lines of insurance coverage including workers' compensation.

The agency represents many reputable and competitive insurance companies. W.E. Walker-Lakenan LLC uses a state-of-the-art computer system that allows the staff and producers to rate and underwrite insurance coverages within their office, and issue the insurance policies, with each insurance company's approval. Besides rating and underwriting, the agency is also able to monitor claims from start to finish, review customer billings and communicate directly with insurance companies and customers. All of these things add up to professional, efficient service to all customers.

The producers and staff of W.E. Walker-Lakenan LLC have various professional designations and also have annual continuing educational requirements. The agency has received several honors each year and most recently has been designated as Presidents Club Award Winner of the year 2010-2011 with America First Insurance Co. and is a Signature Partner with the Elite Designation for the year 2010-2011 with Missouri Employers Mutual Insurance Co.
