Cape Girardeau will host its third annual Storytelling Festival: Where the River Turns a Thousand Tales on April 9, 10 and 11 on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River. The festival will be located in full view of the Mississippi in historic downtown Cape Girardeau and will include six of the nation's premiere storytellers.
The event will be packed with great stories and music to entertain people of all generation, says Stephanie Lynch, director of public relations and marketing for the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau.
"Come escape to Cape to hear heart-warming tales at the Storytelling Festival, stroll along the banks of the river, and rediscover what it means to find your roots. Create your own story in Cape this year, share it with others, and discover why we truly are 'where the river turns a thousand tales,'" says Lynch.
The storytellers will share a wide variety of stories sure to please folks from all ages and all walks of life, says Lynch. "As a storyteller's story unfolds, personalized images play on the screen in each listener's mind. Images based upon each person's own unique life encounters and experiences. Those gathered find themselves enthralled as they revisit some old long lost friends, memories created along this journey called life. Laughter, joy, tears, sorrow, recollections and remembrances: a gamut of emotions are experienced at a storytelling festival," she adds.
Tickets are now on sale through the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitor's Bureau. To purchase tickets and for more information about the festival and the city of Cape Girardeau call the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau at 1-800-777-0068 or visit the website capestorytelling.com.
