__ What is the most important issue facing Scott City Public Schools?:__
Presently our most important issues are keeping our school current on educational trends so that our graduates are as prepared as possible for college or to compete in todays job market. That said, it is still very important to make our school a place where all students feel safe so that they are not distracted at school. I also feel it is important to keep salaries competitive to attract and keep the best teachers possible.
__What in your background or education makes you qualified for this office?:__
My wife and I and 5 of our children are all graduates of Scott City High School. We are all very proud of our school and I believe it's a great place to work and educate our children. My family has deep roots in education, My grandmother was a teacher. My Father served on the Scott City Board for nearly 30 years and I have two siblings, nieces and a nephew that are in education.
__How do you think the board should move forward with a possible no-tax bond issue? If passed, how should the money be spent?:__
There are many areas of out school that need improvements and a no-tax increase bond issue would provide the needed funds. We regularly are having to make repairs to our 56 year old plumbing system and our roof is continually in need of repairs also. Our district is financially sound but these repairs are very taxing on the budget. I would strongly support the no tax increase bond issue.
__Do you think the Scott City School District is a good place for teachers to work? Why or why not?:__
Yes I do, our parents are very supportive and we have an excellent administrative team that truly cares about what's best for faculty and students. The members who are selected by the voters this year will be charged with a very important decision in guiding our school into the future, we will be selecting a new Superintendent within the next few years. I feel that past board experience will be key in this decision.
