1. What strategies/improvements would you work to put in place to better equip Bollinger County for disasters like we've experienced this year (flooding, ice storms, tornadoes, etc.)?

Answer: I know the county already has a course of action that they take when things like this happen. I would work with them to find out if there is equipment/assistance that would help in performing their duties. Also, forming a committee of volunteers to help with nonemergency situations, like clearing roads of fallen icy limbs, to ensure that the time of emergency personnel is utilized in that area would help. It takes people working together in a community to get back on track after a disaster hits. The emergency services that we have are trained in how to handle these situations, so I would just try to help come up with solutions to any problems they have or know of.

2. What do you think the county could do to better equip individuals and businesses to respond to storm situations?

Answer: Informing individuals on what to do in those situations. I think as long as people have the knowledge of how to act and what to do/not do, it would help tremendously.

3. What experience/ideas do you have to help Bollinger County grow economically?

Answer: I think one option is to generate some outside revenue in the county by having events people are interested in coming to. For example, there are small towns in this area that hold fairs, tractor pulls and rodeos with a big turnout and I think something like this might help. These ideas can also help local small business get their name out.

4. What makes you the best candidate for the job?

Answer: I've always been able to work well with others, I have an open mind and I'm always open to suggestions. I understand that there is a solution to problems and working together is the only way to accomplish them. You have to be able to see other's points of view before a resolution can be made. I can bring fresh ideas to the table, and that's why I think I would be the best candidate.
