What is the most important issue facing the Cape Special Road District?
There are several very important issues that we could be facing very soon. Ranking them in numerical order is unjustified. We need to keep an eye on absorption by the county highway department. This could be disastrous to the Cape Special Road District residents as we are a separate entity from the District 1 county commission. Keep an eye on the city of Cape Girardeau's preferential planning and zoning which would encompass up to two miles beyond any of Cape Girardeau's city limits including but not limited to the new LaSalle Avenue and Lewis and Clark Parkway. To work closely with our new engineer and develop a steady growth and improvement plan as more development continues in our district.
What in your education or background makes you qualified for this office?
I've maintained my own personal road. I have traveled throughout the United States, which has made me aware of what products are available for road and bridge construction and maintenance as well as snow and ice removal. I have a working knowledge of construction equipment and preventive maintenance.
Why are you better qualified than your opponent(s)?
I have lived in the Cape Special Road District all of my life. I have seen the improvements in our roads and bridges over the years and don't want any shortcomings to our continued success. I want to continue to protect the landowners' rights while improving the infrastructure of our district.
