Marcia and Dan Schlueter are convinced that the best treatment for some skin diseases is phototherapy. In order to expand their business and best meet the needs of their patients, the Schlueters are equipping Healing Rays with different kinds equipment that emit UVB light rays. This medical procedure is called phototherapy.
In 2009, Healing Rays acquired units specifically designed to treat hands, feet and scalps. Even though these parts of the body are generally the most resistant to treatment, the new units have produced great results. More equipment will be added as patients spread word about the effectiveness of the phototherapy treatment.
Healing Rays treats patients with psoriasis, a noncontagious condition that causes skin to become irritated and to turn red; eczema, a general term for many types of skin inflammation; vitiligo, a condition that causes the skin to lose its color and develop white patches; and other skin diseases.
"It's important for people to understand that psoriasis, eczema and similar conditions are not contagious," Marcia Schlueter said. "On the other hand, there is no cure for them, either. However, with proper, regular treatment they [skin conditions] can clear and remain in remission for long periods of time."
