CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Chaffee, Mo., voters went to the polls April 5, 2011 to decide several municipal questions. They increased the city sales tax rate by a quarter-cent, lending their support for the tax for fire department operations, but not for stormwater and park improvements. City officials said the tax could have brought in $90,000, allowing them to tackle some of Chaffee's drainage issues.
__Oct. 24, 2012__ -- It was announced that Chaffee would improve its aging water and sewer-system infrastructure through low-interest loans funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Rural Development. The $9 million in loans were to be used to replace existing water mains in the Chaffee water district and for building a modern water treatment facility. The cash would also go toward repairing and treating the city's sewer collection lines and improving the lift station.
