__What are the most important improvements in city services needed in Ward 1?__

There are approximately 9000 plus citizens that live in the 63703 zip code and ward 2 is still under nourished. Improvements for Ward 2 are vast and many from dilapidated commercial buildings, poor neighborhoods, no major food chain and the lack of access to educational assistance for our youth. Improvements such as transportation issues, unsafe sidewalks, packed sewers, and poor street lights are just some of the needs.

__One of the biggest challenges facing Cape Girardeau is its outdated police station. How should the city adress this need, and how would you propose to pay for it?__

The present station was built in 1973, the cost to build it was $825.000. Forty one years later we as a community once again need to address the safety, and proficiency of this department. Informing the citizens of the need for a new Police station would greatly increase awareness of how outdated it is. I think that different funding streams should be considered and looked into to make this happen.

__What do you feel is the biggest issue facing the city as a whole, and how should it be addressed?__

The city faces many issues, juvenile issues, teen and adult issues, jobless issues, educational issues, housing issues, safety issues, and disparity issues, to name a few. However, the BIGGEST issue in my opinion is the need for a community centre that will provide adequate space to accommodate issues faced by all citizens especially in ward 2. Urgent - construct an additional overpass at highway 74 and West End Boulevard for the safety of our children.

__The city faces several sunsetting taxes in the next few years. Do you feel they should be extended, and do you see opportunities for tax reductions in some areas in the future?__

There is no doubt that taxes has satisfied needed improvements for the city which has offered interest, fun and relaxation for the citizens and visitors. We have three sun setting taxes ending within three years. The Transportation Trust Fund (2015) Park/Storm Water(2018) and the Fire Tax(2014). When the needs to justify an extension are identified and means to achieve them are clear, I believe that the citizens will make a wise and informed decision.
