Amy McDonald, director: Cape Girardeau Public School Foundation provides grant opportunities to all teachers in every Cape Girardeau public school. We are the only not-for-profit in the area dedicated to enhancing the education of all CGPS students through the support of Great Idea Teaching Grants.

What future plans do you have for your business?

AM: The CGPS Foundation plans to work toward substantially increasing donations supporting the district's teachers and students, streamline the application process for spring 2014, and working with the school district to sustain successful grant programs.

What may our readers find surprising about your business?

AM: CGPS Foundation partnered with Southeast Missouri Arts Council and others in the community to contribute to matching the Council's National Endowment for the Arts grant. That grant is bringing three artists to work with students in the Alternative School.
