What is the most important issue facing Perry County Memorial Hospital?

Renovation of the facility is a major project planned for the next couple of years. We already have the skilled and most dedicated staff, doctors and advanced equipment to offer the best choice for health care to our community. We have to have the facility that meets the needs patients expect, and make them choose PCMH.

What in your education or background makes you qualified for this office?

I am a lifelong resident of Perryville. I have always advocated service to the community, and this position is a commitment of service. I have been with The Bank of Missouri for 35 years. I am active in the Rotary Club of Perryville, the Perryville Chamber of Commerce, scout fund drives, and of course in my church. My job as an HR director and manager has given me insight to many business and personnel concerns that are addressed and discussed at board meetings.

Why are you better qualified than your opponent(s)?

I have been on this hospital board for 10 years, and I feel it takes years to learn the business of the hospital. I feel my business background is very beneficial. I am fortunate that my employer encourages community service and I am able to attend the meetings whenever held. When I disagree with board or management I have the confidence to voice my concerns.

Should Perry County Memorial Hospital seek federal stimulus funds to promote electronic medical records?

Electronic medical records are being used in many facets of the hospital's course of business now. I am all for electronic medical records that could help save your life if you have an emergency far from home, but I am still leery of the protection of privacy. Stimulus funds have a cost that someone has to pay for, and I would have to have more information before I could I recommend this.
