WELCOME TO RIVERFEST '96

Riverfest '96 starts today and concludes its 17th annual celebration of Cape Girardeau's river heritage with entertainment and a dazzling fireworks display Saturday night. This year's theme is "Mississippi Magic," and organizers of the event have crammed something for everyone into the busy schedule.

Special thanks go to the many sponsors who make Riverfest a reality. As a result of this support, admission to the celebration is free, including the many performances by top-notch entertainment groups.

Thousands of Cape Girardeau residents and visitors will fill up downtown for the two-day event. It is a grand opportunity for the city to roll out its red carpet and display both its hospitality and its reputation for having a good time.
