To the editor:
In response to "Cape council agrees to preserve part of old bridge": Thank you so much for your Web site. Although I do not get to log on very often, I certainly enjoy it. As a former resident of Cape Girardeau, it is a very special place to me. I am enjoying the articles on the old bridge.
Back in the mid-1940s my family and I lived on Morgan Oak not too far from the bridge. I recall a restaurant called the Bridge Cafe down by the bridge. While living there I delivered the Southeast Missourian in the Red Star area. In the late 1930s and early 1940s my family and I lived on Cape Rock Drive. Cape certainly was a nice place to grow up. I am now in my early 70s, and Cape still holds a special place in my memories.
