Voting should not be taken for granted. This country has its share of problems. But unlike some countries, we have the right to vote. It's an opportunity to make our voice heard, to cast our ballots for the candidates we believe best represent our values.

Today, Missourians will cast ballots in the state's primary election. In addition to candidate contests, several issues will appear on the ballot. These have been reported on in the Southeast Missourian. Many also have written letters to the editor on issues, Paid Election Letters endorsing candidates, or sent issue comments to Speak Out.

If you were one of those who actively became involved, thank you. It's important to have an active citizenry, and we're pleased to provide a forum.
