Need to upgrade your job skills? Are you looking for a new hobby? Are you falling off the technology curve?
Cape Girardeau's Area Vocational-Technical School offers classes for all ages and occupations. The school is currently enrolling adults for its popular evening courses.
Classes are available in post-secondary education, health, computers, business and office skills, trade and technical skills, self-improvement and fun.
The vocational school draws adults from throughout the region for its comprehensive lineup of classes. About 1,000 adults are enrolled in evening classes each semester, and another 3,000 participate yearly in customized training for area businesses. That's certainly impressive.
There's still time to sign up for many of the fall classes. Free brochures are available at the school, which is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at 301 N. Clark.
The classes themselves are taught by staff experienced in adult education and community experts. The success of the program combined with affordable prices encourages many repeat students.
It's not too late to sign up. Who knows where it will lead. It could be the start of a fascinating hobby or even a career change.
