The United Way of Southeast Missouri debuted a new website last week that provides a great deal of information about the organization's aims and the many agencies affiliated with United Way. One prominent feature of the new website is the information about volunteer opportunities in the community.
Volunteers are an essential part of so many worthwhile efforts. Through the new website, United Way hopes to encourage more and more volunteers who have time and skills they can use to fill vital needs in a variety of ways. Some volunteers like short-term obligations, while others offer their services on a regular basis.
One target group of the new website is college students, according to executive director Nancy Jernigan. She said that age group uses the Internet regularly and generally has time to serve the community.
Area high schools also stress volunteer involvement of students, and the new website will be a good way to learn more about volunteering opportunities.
The new website is www.unitedwayofsemo.org.
Check it out. In addition to finding out about volunteers needed in the community, you will learn about United Way and all it does to make our communities better places to live and work.
