UNITED WAY HAS EASY TASK IF YOU GIVE YOUR FAIR SHARE

When any community decides to raise more than half a million dollars in just a few weeks to be used by many worthwhile organizations, it is a major challenge.

The Cape Girardeau Area United Way intends to raise $520,000 this year for its 26 participating agencies. It is no easy task, but it is one that will be achieved through the generous giving of people who care and the tireless efforts of volunteers who are committed to making the community a better place to live.

Open Your Heart is this years theme for United Way. It is a simple slogan, but it expresses the core of community giving.

Ron Hopkins, campaign chairman, and his dozens of stalwart volunteers have a big task ahead of them. Their success, however, depends on just one person: You. If you give to United Way as best you can, reaching the goal is more than a possibility. It will be a certainty.
