This is a fun time of year. Between shopping, concerts and other holiday festivities, there's nothing quite like Christmastime.
As you finish your holiday shopping, we hope you consider donating to Toybox and Christmas for the Elderly.
Tracy Haggerty, coordinator for the Jaycee Toybox project, has been blogging during the last few weeks about ways to help those who would otherwise not have much under the Christmas tree.
For children, items such as blocks, learning toys, action figures, books, Legos and CDs are requested, among other items. Pharmacy and grocery gift cards, cleaning supplies, toiletries and coats are a few ideas for Christmas for the Elderly donations.
Drop-off locations for Toybox have been listed in the Southeast Missourian and can also be found on Haggerty's blog at semissourian.com.
Items and monetary donations for Toybox and Christmas for the Elderly are being accepted through Dec. 20 at the Southeast Missourian office at 301 Broadway, Cape Girardeau. Donations may also be mailed to: Cape Jaycees, PO Box 4, Cape Girardeau, MO 63702.
