An already successful program at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center for training licensed practical nurses is about to expand by offering a two-year training program consisting of evening classes.
This means individuals seeking to become LPNs won't have to give up their day jobs to attend these classes. The center will continue to provide its daytime training as well.
The Cape Girardeau center has a proven record of providing high-quality training for LPNs. Based on the performance of its students who take the national license exam, the center here is the most successful in Missouri. In each of the past five years, all of the students have passed the exam except in 1999 when 95.5 percent of the class passed. There are 39 LPN training programs in the state.
Evening LPN classes are scheduled to start Oct. 1. Enrollment is going on right now and will continue until the 14 training slots allocated by the Missouri Board of Nursing are filled.
