Summertime entertainment continues this weekend with a Christian concert and Capahas auction both scheduled for tonight.

Popular contemporary Christian music writer and singer Chris Tomlin will perform at the Show Me Center tonight. The concert includes fellow contemporary Christian artist Brandon Heath.

This area has hosted a number of big-time Christian concerts in recent memory. Tonight's performance with Tomlin and Heath should be another successful event that brings fans in for a fun and inspiring night.

Tomlin has written many songs regularly used by church congregations. Some of the anthems include "Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)," "Our God" and "How Great is Our God."

The Plaza Tire Capahas will hold its annual dinner and auction tonight at Isle Casino in Cape Girardeau. The auction is the major fundraiser to help the team attend the National Baseball Congress World Series in Witchita, Kansas.

The Capahas have an automatic bid this year after a strong finish in the 2013 World Series.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15. The live auction will follow, and more than 100 items will be available for bid. Several businesses have donated gift cards for the night, and other businesses have given items away for the auction. Other prize items include an autographed picture of former St. Louis Cardinals player Jim Edmonds and an Ernie Banks-signed baseball. A story in Thursday's Southeast Missourian by reporter Ben Striker noted that businesses may donate items by calling Mary Bolen at 979-1089.
