A recent comment in your Speak Out section requires some clarification. The caller wished to explain that local weathercasters "are simply the media who give the forecast to the public." This is to some extent a misconception. Television weathercasters range from pure announcers to scientists with Ph.D.'s. Many, including some in this region, have graduate degrees in meteorology, and do their own forecasting. Here at KFVS we use a variety of sources, including national weather service information, to arrive at our local forecasts.
