To the Editor: Recently, an environmentalist's ad in your paper declared: "66,000 square miles or 37 city blocks of trees are cut down every minute." The state of Missouri has about 69,000 square miles in it. This environmentalist says slightly over every minute every tree in an area the size of Missouri is destroyed. The whole earth has about 57,900,000 square miles of land surface. This would mean every tree on earth should be gone in just over three hours...
