THE PUBLIC MIND: READER HOPES `ROOTS' PROJECT TAKES ROOT

To the Editor:

As the university's fiscal year draws to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the excellent job that you and your staff did in publicizing events occurring on campus.

More specifically, I would like to commend you on your publication of "Roots" in honor of Black History Month. The articles were educational, heartfelt and intelligently written. The focus of the earnest local personalities contributed to the education of all people in the area. The articles reflect a glimpse of the courageous individuals that have sustained throughout our local history and the persistence it has required to achieve the progress we have made as a society.

We really enjoyed working with Dwayne Rutherford on this project. He had a great interest in this publication and really did a great job of coordinating it. Dwayne exhibited strong enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the project.

We look forward to working with you in the future and to next year's edition of "Roots" to learn more about the history of Cape.
