To the Editor:

It is with great pride that I wish to share a positive stroke by Gov. Ashcroft regarding his pro-family views. Last month, Gov. Ashcroft signed a proclamation declaring Oct. 25-Nov. 1 as Pornography Awareness Week in Missouri.

To some, this may not be a big deal but this is a sign that we need to strengthen the fundamental values of the family and community on which our nation was founded.

Not only are the long-held values of Missouri citizens being challenged, but families are being destroyed by this smut. Only a consensus of a community can determine the standards of public decency and it is incumbent upon the people of this state and its communities to understand fully the impact of pornography in our society. Pornography remains illegal in the state of Missouri until the laws are changed.
