To the Editor:
Your feature article on "Cape Girardeau in the 20's....." by Jay Eastlick (Feb. 24, 1991) reached us recently here in New Mexico. The excellent photo of Mayor James A. Barks (my father) presenting the key to the city to Lt. Comm. John Philip Sousa in 1929 overwhelmed me with memories. How splendid to recall the growth of the city during that decade!
Since my husband and I both taught at Jackson High School after graduating from SEMO, we can attest to the high spirited rivalry between them joined them as the good neighbors they really were.
