This is in reply to the article in the paper Sunday, Feb 23: "Capital gains tax cut collects ~local support."

What is so sacred that capital gains tax should be considered above other taxes?

We know that we have two kinds of people, the savers and the spenders. We also know that if we did not have spenders there be no money for the savers to save. Our economy runs on the spenders or the consumers. If you gave a dollar to a saver he would put in his sock or the bank. If you gave the spender (consumer) a dollar, he will spend it.

It makes no difference to the saver whether you give him a dollar or not eventually he will wind up with it. Why not give the tax cut to the consumer for eventually the money will percolate up to the saver.
