To the Editor:

During Spring Vacation, Cape Central High School Band, Choir and Orchestra visited and performed in the Washington D.C. area. I wish each person who worked so hard to make this trip possible could have seen and felt the pride of the students as they presented their concerts.

When the Band and Choir performed on the lawn of the Capitol building, visitors and residents stopped and listened. European tourists took pictures of the Central Band back to Italy with them. It was exciting to see these students who work so hard, spend so many hours, sell and deliver so many things, attain such an exciting goal.

Many people, companies, organizations donated time and money to make this trip a success. I would like to thank them for their contributions and assure them that it was time and money well spend. A trip to Washington, D.C., is a chance of a lifetime. Cape Girardeau was represented by a well-behaved, mannerly, enthusiastic group of teenagers.

Special thanks go to Mr. Casey and Mr. Nall, Mr. Gilhaus and Mrs. Williams for their patience and determination to make this trip both a learning and performing trip. Kathy Swan and Sue Case deserve a grateful thanks for the time and effort they spent on this trip, also.
