THE PUBLIC MIND: BUDGET DEFICIT STILL MATTERS

To the Editor:

Now that the ~Clinton cabinet has been chosen, and the new administration is about to begin in earnest, and hopes are high, let's remember that virtually all programs (Somalia, Bosnia, etc. .... social programs, infrastructure, "pump priming," etc.) stand or fall on the capacity and will of our nation to fund them.

The new watchword for the new administration and the American people, as well, is "It's the Deficit, Stupid."
