To the Editor:
This great country in which we live was founded by godly men who held strong convictions that Christian principles were vital to successful and effective government. These principles were also the basis on which the educational system in America was established. For 160 years, Christian principles were officially and legally inseparable from public affairs. Our court system and legislators have strayed from the original blueprint that our Founding Fathers inaugurated for our country. One of the landmark judicial decisions, pivotal to the turning away from our morally and ethically strong roots, occurred in 1962. The Supreme Court initiated a severance between religious principles and public affairs. Today's "separation of church and state" is a recent innovation in America, having no historical precedent either in American policy or legal practice.
We as a nation need to re-educate ourselves as to the fundamentals that made America great. We need to restore and rebuild the values on which America was built and which, in recent years, have been seriously attacked and undermined. A fresh look at the guiding principles of our Founding Fathers will reveal a stark contrast in present practice and historical intent.
If you are interested in a brief history lesson on the beliefs of our Founding Fathers and would like to learn more about what can be done to return America to its original guiding philosophy, be sure to watch "America's Godly Heritage" on ACT-45, on Sunday, March 28, at 11 a.m., or on Public Access Channel 5 on Sunday, March 28, at 6:30 p.m.
