Later this week the Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music will present "The Magic Flute" at the River Campus.
The Mozart opera is an opportunity to hear talented vocalists attending Southeast and enjoy what looks to be an impressive production.
A story in Monday's Southeast Missourian pointed out several interesting components. The music will be sung in the original German and "supertitles" will be projected. The dialogue will be in English. The projector to be used is new, and in addition to projecting words it will help cast the scene through images.
The costumes were designed by Deana Luetkenhaus, who owns D'Tails in Cape Girardeau, using a process called "upcycling."
Alba Cancel, a guest artist, will sing the part of Queen of the Night.

The opera will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Bedell Performance Hall. Tickets may be purchased for $16 at the River Campus box office, by phone at 651-2265 or at rivercampusevents.com.
We hope you considering attending one of the upcoming performances.
