Thanks to school board members

This week is recognized as School Board Member Appreciation Week.

Letters to the editor from two local superintendents recently appeared on the Opinion page expressing thanks to the individuals who volunteer their time to serve on local school boards.

Serving on a school board can be a thankless job. The people who put their names forth largely have a desire to support local education. Their involvement in leading the district plays an important role.

This area is blessed to have many educational options. There are private schools and public. A local university offers additional educational options for those in high school. The individuals who lead and help set policy for these institutions are appreciated.
