Last week Cape Girardeau Central High School hosted a very successful freshman orientation. It was successful because of so much hard work and dedication by many. Assistant principal Nancy Scheller and teacher Crystal Cerny spent months planning this event. It could not have been accomplished without the 24-plus teachers who gave up a full day off to help prepare freshman for high school as well as the additional teachers and coaches who came in to help with club/team fair where 30 clubs and teams were represented. More than 55 upper grade students volunteered to come in the school and help with the freshman. Another 45 students came in to assist with the club fair and closing assembly.

All that still would have not guaranteed success without the efforts of the parents. Thank you to the freshman parents who put in the extra effort to get their child to orientation, and thank you to the parents who gave up a day off or took a day off to accompany their child to orientation! When everyone works together the students win! What a great way to start the school year!
