Thank you to all who participated in our fourth annual Party For the Good event to support the Southeast Missouri Food Bank and our BackPacks For Friday children's program.
Thanks to the City of Cape Girardeau for hosting us at the Osage Centre facility and to the Isle of Capri for their sponsorship and helping hands. To our friends at Aging Matters who helped provide volunteers and refreshments. To one of our hunger relief partners, Cape Girardeau Walmart, who held a food drive at its store to benefit the Backpack program. And to all of our volunteers who assisted in that effort.
Overall 350 friends of Southeast Missouri Food Bank volunteered to pack 3,600 backpacks to help feed hungry children. Almost $1,000 in t-shirt sales and donations, and 1,053 pounds of food were collected to support the Backpack program in our region.
The food bank staff, board members and I are glad to be part of a community that proudly supports our mission and is so giving of their time, resources and voice. We invite you to show your support by wearing orange this month, joining us at Barnes and Noble on at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 27 for a children's story time, or sharing our donation page on your social media. Together we can fight hunger.
