There already is a federal law that lets folks ask to be put -- for free -- on a telemarketer's don't-call list. And there are sanctions for telemarketers that ignore these requests.

Perhaps a state law isn't really needed. But if legislators think such a state list is a good idea, maybe they could do it for free.
