A meeting called to discuss whether the organization would have enough members to fill vacancies on the board of directors was well-attended. Twelve members stepped forward and said they will work to assure the chamber continues. Among them were Mayor Tim Porch and city administrator Ron Eskew.

Chamber president Paul Schock said current members will be challenged to bring in two new members apiece.

Through his real estate purchases and his arts center, Schock himself has helped infuse new life into the city's Old Illmo district. The city finally is getting the Missouri Department of Transportation to fix the traffic problems at its Interstate 55 interchange. This is a time for businesses in Scott City to get involved in guiding its future.
