To the editor:On Saturday, the Cape West Rotary Club will host its 42nd annual radio auction at the J.C. Penney court at West Park Mall. The auction, which will be broadcast all day on KZIM 960 and KSIM 1400, includes such items as vacation packages to Florida and San Antonio; tuition to Southeast Missouri State University; tickets to Rams, Cardinals, and Blues games; gift certificates to numerous restaurants; and over 100 more items.

This year, the primary beneficiary of the auction is Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship, an outstanding organization that is dedicated to providing horsemanship skills to children and adults with disabilities. MVTH helps its participants achieve cognitive, behavioral, psychological and physical goals. Imagine a child in a wheelchair who is used to watching from the sidelines as her siblings play sports. At MVTH, that child is able to learn valuable horsemanship skills, and her siblings watch from the sidelines as she demonstrates those skills. When a disabled child is able to master a horse, the other difficulties in life seem a little easier. MVTH is a great program that exemplifies the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self."
