To the editor:
I would like to respond to a letter that twisted a verse from the Bible (Luke 18:11) in an attempt to mock conservative Christians.
Unlike the first-century Pharisees, I suspect that the overwhelming majority of modern-day Christians, myself included, will openly and willingly admit their shortcomings and sinfulness.
I will not, however, apologize for supporting political candidates, regardless of party, who I feel will stand for traditional family values and overall higher moral standards and who will most importantly promote a culture of life that includes protecting the rights of the unborn.
No, I don't appreciate being mocked and compared to the self-righteous Pharisees. Those who don't agree with the fact that our country is in the midst of a moral decline are only fooling themselves. Most of today's adults grew up in a country with a firm grip on the handle of traditional moral values. That grip is loosening quickly. All I ask is that my children are afforded the same opportunity that we had.
