I JUST WANTED to comment about the Sunday, Feb. 24, newspaper and the testimony on the front page by Mrs. Low. I just wanted you to know it was really nice to pick up the newspaper and read a real touching story like that and see the face that Mrs. Low has. It was really nice. Thank you.
SATURDAY WAS A beautiful day for a parade in Cape Girardeau, but I was disappointed in the turnout. The paper estimated only approximately 500 people turned out in a town of 34,000. That seems very disappointing to me. How would you like to be over there and receive a tape just showing that few people? What has happened to us here in Cape? Had this been held in Jackson the whole town would have turned out. Where are all the people in Vision 2000 who complained about the census count? Where are all the other young kids. No bands. I understand the Central High Band was out on another deal, which is understandable, but they have more than 20 people. The municipal band was able to get up enough to have a get-together. My hat goes off to them. It seems like we don't take things too serious here. Maybe it'll take one of those Scud missiles to hit around somewhere in this country. It might wake a few of us up. This is not being critical; I just think we should show better support than what I saw yesterday. Most of the people were either veteran organization representatives or relatives of the ones now serving over there.
