DEAR SPEAK Out, I just read a piece in the paper where somebody does not want the Ten Commandments in school. I wonder if he spends the money that has written on it, "In God we trust." What is so wrong with the Ten Commandments? If the students would read them every day, the kids would realize that God will punish them if they steal or lie or commit adultery. Could you please explain that to me? On our money says "In God we trust." I hope people think about that.
AS A first-time caller, I'd just like to thank Speak Out for giving readers a chance to say what's on their minds. My concern is Duck Creek Wildlife Area southwest of Cape. I've hunted there for 30 years or more now, and I've seen the waterfowl hunting opportunities cut in half from around 50 or so blinds down to about 24 now. All things considered, not the least of which is the fact that duck populations are at an all-time high now, this is to me ridiculous. Unacceptable. I also think that there are areas that used to be utilized but are not used now. The management certainly needs an attitude adjustment, or at least some changes. I encourage all the duck hunters to speak out before it's too late.
DIDN'T THE teachers who are on strike in Illinois know what their salary was going to be before they took the job? They signed the contract. Why don't they either go back and start teaching or move on down the road and let somebody else take over? There are others who can replace them.
