I'M CALLING ABOUT the concern people have about handicap parking. Here are a few facts: One, our local police will begin ticketing illegal parking in handicap spaces about two years after they resolve all those one-headlighted cars. Second, inadequate personality types will always need to park in handicap spaces, for this proves they are just as good or better than anybody else. And business proprietors do prefer their business to those that are handicapped anyway. Now, here's a solution: Make every space in a parking lot for handicapped except for a few near a door. This will allow inadequate folks to express themselves until their heart's content.
WHY AREN'T THERE any Japanese over in Saudi Arabia? They own most of the U.S.
FOR THE PERSON who called in Sunday, Dec. 23, asking about where they could send Christmas cards for recycling or to be used again, I have a contact which I got out of a Dear Abby column in the past. It's a charitable organization which helps neglected and abused children. They recycle Christmas cards. No Santa Claus or secular cards, but only those with a religious message. All a person has to do is cut off the fronts of the cards and send the fronts only. The address is St. Jude's Ranch for Children, P.O. Box 1426, Bolder City, Nev. 89005-0985. Have a great day.
I HOPE EVERYONE thinks of the soldiers in Saudi Arabia over the holidays. I spent the 1969 Christmas in Vietnam and I know the loneliness. Thank you.
ABOUT ALL THE TALK concerning people not backing their leaders in government: It takes confidence and trust in the ones you're dealing with. You see, we had a test of that under Ronald Reagan and Bush, so it's hard for people to believe what they are told. It's just like that in all walks of life. If you have preachers you don't believe in or teachers that doesn't practice what they preach, you don't care about getting involved. Truth in leaders you believe in is what it takes to accomplish better things in life.
REGARDING THE ARTICLE in Sunday's Southeast Missourian by Don Pritchard of the News Guardian where he is begging Gary Rust to do away with Speak Out: Well, I really enjoy Speak Out and I enjoy being able to speak my mind and enjoy hearing what others have to say about certain topics. Thank you.
ON KFVS SATURDAY morning I watched "All Through the Night." It was very beautiful and I enjoyed it very much. Thank you, Mrs. Cochran.
I JUST WANTED to say I'm having SEMO basketball withdrawal. Come on, let's get it started again.
I WOULD JUST like to say that the person who couldn't understand why the TV stations were having their employees wish everybody a Merry Christmas and have those from Saudi Arabia, maybe people around here have relatives in Saudi Arabia and enjoy having them say hi and that they love them and miss them. Thank you.
I WOULD LIKE to say many thanks to the Lutheran Church in Scott City for serving and delivering so many bountiful and delicious meals to the shutins in Scott City, and also to the neighbors, likewise. Deeply appreciated by all. Thank you.
