I AM TIRED of hearing about the greedy, money-hungry Americans who were working in Kuwait. They weren't forced to go over there. It was greed or else to get away from their families. They made as much in one year as we do in five or more. They could have afforded the plane ticket every year if they miss their families so much. Now the taxpayers are paying to bring them home...

I WOULD LIKE TO pass this information to the department of earth science at the college. Regardless of what anybody tries to tell you, you can bet there's a 50 percent chance the Earth is round.

I CAN'T BELIEVE anyone would like to live in Arkansas. I understand on TV that men, not really men, have the right to beat and abuse their wife and children, and not a thing can be done about it. If the law protects them, the men will surely do it. They are real cowards and they ought to pick on someone their own size or beat the heck out of another wife-beater. I have stronger words than the above, but they can't be printed in Speak Out. I think all the wife-beaters should go to Arkansas and the women should be put someplace else. That would put a stop to it.

I AM ANGRY AS hell about Dr. Dave Stewart being shafted by the very people he was trying to help. Now we see what a good deed will get you: a knife in the back. Somehow what Dr. Stewart's critics and accusers did to him was the equivalent of slapping twice and slamming the door in his face. So, all you malicious, thoughtless, inconsiderate, word-twisting, so-called Christians, who criticized him and caused his resignation, think about that as you celebrate Christ's birthday. Have a merry Christmas. Thank you.

I WOULD LIKE to know why the government, after they banned the red and yellow dye, still put it in candies and drinks and cheese?

I THINK PRESIDENT Bush ought to be impeached. I don't know what we're doing over there in that desert. Those aren't our people. They went over there to make big money and not pay income tax. I think it's a shame that we're spending all that money on that. Thank you.

WELL, AS WE watch our national news tonight, we see where the United States has taken on another country to support, the Soviet Union. I knew this was coming, but I did not know how soon it would get here. Why, oh why, do the American people have to fight the world's battles and feed the whole world when there's people in our own country who are going hungry and have no place to put their heads at night? It's alright to help people when they are down, but let's sweep our own back porch first. Wake up, politicians, or you are liable to be in the unemployment line. Thank you.

HAS ANYONE NOTICED the horrible sewer odor between the Dutchtown and Route K exits? For this to be the city of roses, something is wrong with someone's nose. Come on, Cape, let's get this taken care of.

I'D LIKE TO send my deepest sympathy to Trey Springer's parents and family. We loved him very much.

I WAS WONDERING when the city is going to replace the rose on the sign when coming out of Illinois by the bridge. It has been missing, I know since July, and I was wondering if it was going to be replaced. Many have commented about how pretty it was. Thank you.
