EVERYONE KNOWS the consumer-price index is underrated, not overrated. Just two months ago, the city of Cape Girardeau alone added 100 percent to my sewer taxes and many others in their annual water adjustment. The city will now probably ask for a five percent water increase. Union Electric will probably be coming up with a increase. No way they can be right in Washington.
I UNDERSTAND that SEMO is having Walter Williams, the columnist from the newspaper, at the university. He's probably one of the greatest persons, in my opinion, that the Missourian has ever had in the paper as far as opinion writers. I think the man is great.
SOMEONE called in saying, "If people would stay in school and get their diplomas, they wouldn't have to get a GED and learn to read." I just wanted to say that my husband made some mistakes and dropped out of high school. He got his GED and now is about to receive a degree in accounting and computer science at a well-known university. He's also helping me raise our 3-year old daughter. I need the person who called in to read this. Then they wouldn't be so all fired up to preach about something they know little about.
